My name is Eric deRuiter, and I can work with you to secure your devices (Mac, iPhone, and iPad only) and your accounts using the password manager 1Password, including two factor authentication, encrypting your data, and locking down accounts to prevent unauthorized access.
I’ll work with you over the phone and with a shared screen session to your Mac to get you up and running using 1Password, and should you run into trouble I will be a phone call away.

Do you work for 1Password or Apple?
No, I am an independent consultant providing IT services to residential and small business clients in Manhattan since 2010. I now offer this service to teach you one-on-one how to integrate 1Password into your life and strengthen your security, as well as the security of your family or company.
How will I be more secure?
Besides having strong, unique passwords for each account and using two factor authentication to protect your accounts you will also be protected against fraudulent account recovery and SIM swapping.
After you are comfortable with 1Password we can also encrypt the drive on your Macs, upgrade your devices to use strong passwords, enable automatic software updates, set up an ad blocker, freeze your credit, and review your devices for any other problems.
Is it difficult to use 1Password?
There is a learning curve, but once you are used to it you won’t know how you lived without it, and clicking on “I forgot my password” will be a thing of the past. I’ll be there for you to handle any problems you run into.
Can I share some of my passwords such as a bank or streaming service with a family member?
1Password offers team and family accounts so we can create a solution that works for your particular situation, whether they will also be using 1Password or not.
How long will it take to get started?
It typically takes about two hours to set up your account, install 1Password on your devices, and learn how to use it.
How much does this cost?
My rate is $60 per 20 minutes during weekdays 9am – 6pm EST, and doubled on weekends and after hours. You will also be responsible for a 1Password subscription.
Do I have to be local to you?
No, this is done over the phone and via remote session to your computer so you can be located anywhere.
